MANCHESTER, VT–(Marketwire - June 11, 2008) - The Orvis Company, the recognized world leader in fly fishing gear and apparel, has also taught the art and science of fly fishing to more than 30,000 anglers through its famed Orvis Fly Fishing Schools, started in Manchester, Vermont in the 1960s. Now, the 150-year-old company is helping teach fly fishing in a way its founder Charles Orvis never could have imagined–via the Internet.
Tom Rosenbauer, author of numerous books on fly fishing including THE ORVIS FLY FISHING GUIDE, is the host of The Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast, a weekly 10-minute Internet radio show that gives valuable tips on angling for the novice and experienced fisher alike.
“I choose topics for my podcasts from questions people ask me all the time,” said Rosenbauer. “One of the things I enjoy most is sharing what I have learned about fly fishing with others, so I am having a good time already!”
So far, topics for the free podcast have included a three-part series on reading the water, how to teach children to fly fish, and how to take advantage of the mayfly life cycle for some of the best fishing of the season.
You can listen to the Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast and subscribe to it at www.orvis.com/podcast or by searching for Orvis in the iTunes Store.
Founded in 1856 as a small bamboo fly rod shop in Manchester, Vermont, Orvis has been leading the fly fishing industry in innovation and quality for more than 150 years. Orvis donates five percent of pre-tax profits each year to environmental programs. Read more about Orvis and the new award winning Helios rod on their website at www.orvis.com.
